Hello, I’m Kate.
I’m an certified Orton Gillingham Practitioner, B.A., A/AOGPE dedicated to supporting students with various learning challenges. My work focuses on helping those who can enhance their phonological awareness skills, as well as improve their decoding, fluency and comprehension abilities.
I collaborate with students who thrive in active learning environments, including those diagnosed with dyslexia. The Orton Gillingham approach is multisensory, incorporating tactile and kinesthetic elements. This method is particularly effective for students who benefit from structured learning, multi-sensory, individualized instruction, phonics-based, repetition and practice all in an engaging learning experience.
A little bit about me, I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Minor in Special education from American University. My Associate degree is in Liberal Arts from Landmark College. I have my certification for Montessori Teacher in Primary Education.
Throughout my academic journey, I’ve come to understand and relate to my students who learn in their own unique ways. I have seen firsthand how you can overcome these challenges with the right Educational approach and support. It is my passion to be able to help students excel in their reading skills and develop a love for reading. It is an honor to support them in building their self-confidence.
